About
Tiger Rising’s vision is to design cutting-edge environments, tools and processes to allow people to maintain their brain plasticity through play.
Free Thinking, Free Playing and Connecting Creatively is what Tiger Rising play design is all about. In this fast paced world of stress, anxiety, addiction, depression, fear and forgetfulness we really need help. Thankfully new scientific study is starting to understand how we actually work, eg the memory and how and why we remember, and how and why we forget. This avenue of science is discovering how and why we need to PLAY and HAVE FUN and how much the brain needs theses activities every day in order to help build neuro networks and maintain our brain’s plasticity. This is what Tiger Rising is all about.
My name is Susan Louise Gumley and I am the founder of Tiger Rising Play Design. I was born in the year of the water tiger and I have always believed in the power of play. I am the mother of three children who ultimately gave me the courage and confidence to follow my dreams and teach people the importance of play. I am an artist, writer & play designer. I am the creator of The Zodiac Dreaming Series of posters books and puzzles which connects with the three ways of learning, understanding and remembering, auditory, visual and kinesthetic. I am a kinesthetic learner which means I learn through doing things feeling my way.
I did not learn to read and write properly until the age of thirty when I found out that all of my children and I were dyslexic, this was the best thing I had ever been told, as now I could do something about it, not only helping my children but helping myself. I also realized at this point that the education system is an unfair system as it directs its teaching to auditory learners ignoring or at least disadvantaging the visual and kinesthetic learners.
