Play and work
Science has found out a lot about play, by what happens to us when we don’t play or don’t play enough. It is depression, dissatisfaction with life, social inadequacy and isolation, developmental stunting, together with physical deterioration and ill health.
So, What is Play?.
Are all games play? Is competition play? How do we know what play is, and what is not.
We have all had that experience of being so involved in doing something that all of a sudden, an hour or two has vanished and I don’t mean that we were just vaguing out, thinking about some future or past event. I mean when we were totally focused on what we were doing. We could be cooking, painting, gardening, dancing or writing, something we enjoy, love, have passion for, this is the experience of playing.
